Juvenile’s UTP Label Joins Atlantic Records

Slicksno.com - JuvenileJuvenile has entered into an exclusive long-term worldwide distribution deal with Atlantic Records for his UTP (Uptown Projects) record label.

The first release on the new label will be a solo album from Juvenile. Following Juvie’s solo release will be an offering from his group UTP, which includes Juvie, Skip and Wacko.

“I am thrilled that we were able to bring Juvenile and UTP into the Atlantic fold,” said Atlantic Records Group Co-Chairman/COO Craig Kallman in a statement. “Juvenile is the real deal…A pioneer in the fertile southern Hip-Hop movement, Juvenile put New Orleans on the national rap map.”

Kallman went on to add, “Juvenile has long been a signature artist in the Hip-Hop community, and he now becomes the latest high-profile artist to join Atlantic’s rapidly burgeoning urban roster.”

“Signing Juvenile sends a clear message that the new Warner Music Group is committed to being a dominant force in the Hip-Hop community,” Warner Music CEO Lyor Cohen said. “The fact that Juvenile has put his trust in Atlantic Records to guide his career is a testament to the incredible leadership of Craig Kallman and the entire Atlantic urban staff.”

The new deal couldn’t have come at a better time for Juvenile, as his latest single Slow Motion featuring the late Soulja Slim, is numero uno for a third week in a row on Billboard’s Hot Rap Tracks chart.

His latest effort Juvie The Great, is his 6th solo album to date and is his final release for Cash Money Records.

The as yet untitled solo project from Juvenile is due out on Atlantic/UTP in early 2005.
