New Trial Set For C-Murder

Slicksno.com - C-MurderClose to a year after being convicted of second degree murder, Corey “C-Murder” Miller is about to go through it again.

A judge in Gretna, Louisiana set a date of September 12, 2005 for Miller’s second murder trial.

Last September, Corey “C-Murder” Miller was convicted of second degree murder for the killing of 16-year-old Steve Thomas in a Jefferson Parish Nightclub in 2002.

He faces a mandatory life sentence without parole.

Miller was never sentenced due to allegations that the prosecution withheld evidence.

Although nine defense witnesses testified that Miller had nothing to do with the shooting or the beating, in some cases they gave conflicting testimony.

The prosecution produced two witnesses, a security guard and a club patron, that testified they both saw Miller and friends assault the teenager.

Following the verdict, his family, including Master P had vowed to appeal the decision.

This past April, he won his appeal when judge Martha Sassone determined prosecutors withheld important information about the witnesses who were called to incriminate him.

One of the key arguments for the defense’s motion for a retrial, was the revelation that local detectives cleared a prosecution witness’ parking tickets and an arrest warrant for felony theft charges.

Then in December, Miller’s attorneys produced one of the key prosecution witness that said she did not actually see Miller shoot Thomas and witnessed another man with a gun before the shooting.

Monday, Miller pleaded innocent to the charges.
