Violator mogul Chris Lighty is launching a new coalition aimed at unifying mixshow DJ’s. The Violator All-Star DJ’s intend to create a union of DJ’s that Lighty & co-founder DJ Scrap Dirty say is fragmented. “We wanted to build a situation for the DJ’s who might need more muscle,” Lighty told AllHipHop.com.
L.A. Reid steps down as President/CEO of Arista Records. He held the position since May of 2000. Rumored to be due to a looming merger with BMG, it has been reported that the merger had nothing to do with it. More drama to come come.
Damon Dash, the co-founder, along with Jay-Z, of Roc-A-Fella Records, has been accused of rape. Kirstie Thompson, an ex-model has filed a $15 million lawsuit claiming she was sexually attacked by Dash. The suit was filed Tuesday in state Supreme Court in Manhattan. Reports say the alleged attack occurred after a New Year’s Eve party in Brazil in 2002. Thompson claims Dash approached her at the party and asked her if she would have sex with him, and she said no. The next morning, Thompson alleges that Dash came into her hotel room and raped her while she was in a drug-and alcohol-induced haze.
Banks Shot Productions, the production company of Lloyd Banks of the G-unit, will make porno movies for Digital Sin for DVD release. The series of content will be called “Groupie Luve,” after a G-Unit song of the same name.
Kelis will be opening up for Britney Spears on her Onyx Hotel tour this spring. She will open all 25 dates of the tour, which kicks off March 2 in San Diego and wraps up April 12 in New York.
